Conversational interaction is an exchange of information and transactional interaction is transfer of a transaction entity between 2 or more participants, whereas collaborative interaction is employed for a modification of a substance of collaboration, for instance: reaching a shared objective.

Collaborative interactions are structured in such a way that the key goal of the participants is to change the collaboration entity from what used to be unfixed and intangible, for instance, an idea, into something useful, for instance a blueprint.

There are a number of approaches to making these applications useful: moderating activities, papers and projects, facilitating business processes and harmonizing work of several business units or even offices.
